Summary

A graduate of 2010 with a wide range of experience, from three years volunteering at Tate Britain running workshops with the public, to six months voluntary experience in the press office of Tate St Ives. Five years behind bars serving the public, to more recent retail work on the high street. I also have a degree in contemporary crafts working with ceramics, glass, metals and plastics.

Currently working from home making and selling ceramics, I am looking for a part time position, working creatively with the public. I.e workshops, events, art projects.

Description

Three year course, working with glass, fine metals, ceramics and plastics.

Trained in:

• Drawing/Painting: Figurative/life work, still life, line work, screen printing, lino-cutting, stencil making
• Textiles: Basic Sewing skills, tie-dye, batik.
• Ceramics: Slip work, casting and making slip, slabbing, coiling, hand building, glazing, decal work, press moulding, kiln firing techniques including Raku and Bisque.
• Glass: Kiln cast glass, lost wax and core casting, polishing- hand and machine, cutting, fusing, UV gluing.

Communications Intern reporting to the Press Officer
During this six month internship, roles included:

• Contacting local and national Press about current and upcoming exhibitions, emailing high resolution images of works and written releases.
• Establishing new and lasting relationships with publications and journalists.
• Writing two Press Releases with guidance from my Supervisor, both successfully went to print, one appearing in local press as an article, the other as an actual Press Release used in the Press Pack and sent out with invitations to a Private View.
• Gathered together Copyright information for exhibition catalogue images, understanding how to correctly list this in relation to a protected image.

Other regular tasks included sending out Exhibition Packs and Invitations to all media and press contacts and creating, editing and updating various Databases within the Tate System. I also took on the task of reforming the hard-copy Press Filing system.
